Abstract
The third edition of this widely acclaimed textbook provides a comprehensive introduction to global tectonics. The book represents a successful update and revision of the wide range of research topics covered. Since 1990, when the first edition of Global Tectonics was published, there have been many developments in the understanding of Earth structure. While the structure of the book is largely unchanged approximately two-thirds of the figures and text are new or revised. The result is a comprehensive compendium providing an accessible, thorough and up-to-date text covering the broad field of geophysical and geological sciences. Aimed primarily at geoscientists with some basic understanding of tectonics, the book is written for readers who wish to gain a relatively quick and yet thorough insight into the various topics covered.
