Abstract
Calorimetry data from four perfluoroalkanes adsorbed on graphite is presented that indicates the formation of solid monolayers. This is supported by neutron diffraction measurements from an n-perfluorododecane monolayer on graphite. A monolayer crystal structure has been proposed for the perfluorododecane layer which is seen to be related to that of the C12 alkane, dodecane.
