Processing of wide-angle seismic data in the tau-p domain provides advantages over the conventional processing in the time-offset domain. A continuous moveout analysis is applied to a long-offset marine dataset from the Faeroe-Shetland Basin, in order to exploit wide-angle arrivals for imaging the sub-basalt structure. Continuous analysis is performed via the animation of a number of constant moveout stacks (CMS). Each stack is obtained via the application of a fourth-order non-elliptical moveout correction to all of the CMP gathers of the profile, already transformed into and pre-processed within the tau-p domain. A non-stretch stack can be obtained as an `abstract' of a CMS volume after picking the optimal strip of each stack.
